The Zwolle Tamale Fiesta’s 44th annual queen is Alison Beatrice Garcia. She is the 21-year-old daughter of Tracy Silver and Roy Garcia. Her paternal grandparents are Beatriz and Julio Garcia of Kingsville, Texas, and her maternal grandparents are Roberta and Carl Silver of Terre Haute, Indiana. After growing up in Houston, Texas, Alison, her mother, and brother moved to South Toledo Bend where she attended Negreet High School from fifth grade to graduation. While there, she was involved in Gifted & Talented, Elementary and High School 4-H, 4-H Junior Leaders, Quiz Bowl, Yearbook Staff, and participated in the District and State Literary Rallies. During her years on the Negreet High School Quiz Bowl team, the team was able to get second place in the state tournament in Natchitoches, and first place at the parish level on two occasions.
After graduation, she began attending Northwestern State University in the Fall of 2016. Alison is involved in several organizations: Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies, Purple Jackets, & Diamond Dolls. She is a liberal arts major, with a concentration in humanities & social thought, and a double minor in geography and global studies. With her degree, she plans on becoming a foreign service officer and hopes to work in an embassy abroad.
Speaking on her future as the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta Queen, Alison hopes that she will be able to look back on this year as one of the best of her life. She hopes to make Zwolle and Sabine Parish proud as she represents them across the state. Proudly representing the 44th Annual Tamale Fiesta is Ms. Alison Garcia!
